The 2-Day Cine School with Tom Antos Trailer Video
Participating in the Workshop Series with Tom Antos was an incredible experience that I found both inspiring and deeply fulfilling. I've always had a passion for entertainment, particularly the kind that explores complex characters who defy traditional notions of good and evil. Discovering this program, and the energetic community that came with it, was a dream come true.
Throughout the series, I was able to delve into the art of filmmaking in ways I had only imagined before. The hands-on approach, especially during the Master Classes, was particularly invaluable. Being able to experiment with equipment, work through different roles like director and cinematographer, and actually create something alongside others who shared my passion, gave me the kind of practical experience I was craving.
What truly resonated with me was the focus on storytelling. I've always been drawn to characters like Bane from the Batman series—a hero in his own right, yet also a victim of circumstances, embodying the ultimate outsider. This workshop gave me the tools to start crafting my own characters with similar depth and nuance. It was thrilling to explore how to weave narratives that challenge the clear-cut boundaries between good and evil, pushing audiences to think deeper about the characters they encounter.
The program didn’t just equip me with technical skills; it fueled my creative ambitions. I left each session with a head full of ideas and a clear sense of direction for my own projects. The program offered me more than just a running start; it was a launchpad that has set me on a path toward achieving my goal of developing characters that leave a lasting impact.
Being a part of this series felt like stepping into the world of filmmaking for the first time. The knowledge, support, and inspiration I gained here have given me the confidence to move forward with my dreams, knowing I have the skills to back them up. [Marsh Watts]

More Background On 2DayCineSchool.com
2DayCineSchool.com was created as the central promotional and informational website for the 2-Day Cine School, a filmmaking workshop series led by the award-winning filmmaker, cinematographer, VFX artist, and educator Tom Antos. Launched around 2015, the website served as the hub for a multi-month touring workshop that traveled across 27 cities in the United States, Canada, and Europe, providing hands-on filmmaking education to aspiring creators, students, working videographers, and independent filmmakers.
What made 2 Day Cine School highly distinctive was its combination of practical training, deeply technical instruction, and creative storytelling philosophy — all delivered by a filmmaker who had worked on major feature films and who had already established one of the most influential indie-film tutorial channels online. The website captured the full experience: workshop details, schedules, ticketing, giveaways, curriculum, press mentions, and context from the filmmaking community.
This article draws on the archived content from the 2015 tour and supplements it with verified public information from filmmaking publications, press, and industry commentary to build a complete picture of the website, its purpose, its educational model, and its cultural significance.
Ownership and Leadership
2 Day Cine School was owned and operated by Tom Antos, whose filmmaking career spans more than 20 years. Antos worked on feature films, shorts, music videos, animation, and corporate productions, giving him a uniquely broad skillset that blended cinematography, directing, CGI, Visual FX, color grading, and hands-on production.
The website was created to support his 2015–2016 international workshop tour, rather than being a permanent school campus. It functioned as a temporary but professionally designed online platform to provide:
-
city-by-city workshop schedules
-
curriculum outlines
-
pricing information
-
instructor background
-
press releases and media materials
-
promotional videos
-
downloadable workshop content
Tom Antos’s background as a YouTube creator — with millions of views, a large subscriber base, and an online reputation for producing practical filmmaking tutorials — was a major driver of both attendance and credibility. His YouTube channels had tens of millions of views at the time, and his tutorials were featured in filmmaking communities worldwide.
Thus, unlike traditional film schools, 2 Day Cine School was powered by an individual filmmaker with a large global following, allowing for a more flexible, mobile, and grassroots-driven model of film education.
Popularity and Audience
The popularity of 2 Day Cine School was substantial within the independent film, digital video, corporate filmmaking, and YouTube creator communities. There are several reasons for this:
1. Antos’s Audience Reach
Tom Antos already had hundreds of thousands of followers online, many of whom relied on his tutorials. His reputation for being accessible, practical, and transparent helped fuel attendance.
2. Wide Geographic Coverage
The tour reached cities such as:
-
New York
-
Los Angeles
-
Vancouver
-
Chicago
-
Miami
-
Philadelphia
-
Boston
-
Dallas
-
San Francisco
-
London
-
Berlin
-
Madrid
-
Krakow
By covering so many cities, the workshop became accessible to filmmakers who ordinarily would not attend conferences like NAB or travel to major film schools.
3. Hands-On Learning
Attendees frequently praised the interactive master classes where they could handle stabilizers, lighting kits, audio equipment, and cameras while rotating through roles like director, DP, and camera operator.
4. Broad Target Audience
The workshop appealed to:
-
students beginning their film careers
-
wedding and event videographers
-
documentary creators
-
independent filmmakers
-
YouTube creators
-
corporate video producers
-
VFX and animation students
-
freelance editors
Its audience was unified by a desire to learn film production techniques that were practical, affordable, and effective.
History of the Program
The 2015–2016 2 Day Cine School tour emerged during a period when digital filmmaking was rapidly democratizing. Affordable cinema cameras, DSLRs, and accessible editing/VFX software had empowered small independent creators to produce impressive work — but many lacked formal training.
Tom Antos recognized this gap and built the 2-Day Cine School specifically to fill it. The website notes:
The workshop was created to teach Editing, VFX, and Cinematography through a 2-day format during the 2015 tour, reaching 27 cities across the US, Canada, and Europe.
In 2016, the workshop continued in expanded form, reaching additional cities and integrating new technologies and stabilizers that were emerging at the time.
Over the years, even though the website itself was tied to the 2015–2016 tour, its legacy continued through:
-
archived pages
-
online workshop downloads
-
ongoing tutorials by Antos
-
press coverage
-
social media references
Thus, while the original site is an archive rather than a current educational product, its impact has extended well beyond the duration of the tour itself.
Workshop Curriculum (“Menus”)
The curriculum outlined on 2DayCineSchool.com functioned as a detailed “menu” of film education offerings, divided into two core components:
Day 1: Editing & VFX Session
A 4-hour evening classroom-style training session that covered:
-
Concepts and Ideas
-
Key Elements of Your Film
-
How to Edit a Story
-
Visual Effects Fundamentals
-
Color Correction
-
Color Grading
This session focused on the core principles of post-production and how editing governs story flow, tension, pacing, emotional impact, and audience engagement. The VFX component emphasized practical effects achievable even with low budgets and consumer software.
Tailored for beginners and intermediates alike, it emphasized workflow, best practices, and the value of efficient editing systems.
Day 2: Cinematography Master Class
A full-day, hands-on workshop that included:
-
Pre-Production Planning
-
Lighting Techniques for Film & Video
-
Capturing Clean Audio
-
Using Stabilizers Effectively
-
Deconstructing Tom's Original Films
-
Role of the Director
Participants rotated through professional roles, handling cameras, lighting rigs, boom mics, gimbals, and sliders. This emphasis on physical practice set 2 Day Cine School apart from traditional lecture-based seminars.
A major appeal of this setup was the opportunity to operate gear often inaccessible to solo creators.
Educational Goals
The program’s goals were clearly articulated both on the website and in press coverage:
1. Teach Hollywood-Level Techniques on Any Budget
Participants learned how to achieve professional-quality shots using accessible tools and affordable workflows.
2. Demystify Editing and VFX
Many attendees reported rapid skill gains in areas that previously felt technical or intimidating.
3. Provide Hands-On Experience

4. Strengthen Storytelling Skills
Antos emphasized narrative structure, character development, and emotional impact across all modules.
5. Build Confidence and Professional Direction
Reviews describe many attendees leaving inspired, motivated, and more confident in pursuing film careers.
Pricing and Ticket Structure

Press and Media Coverage
The workshop and the website were covered or referenced by multiple filmmaking publications and communities. Highlights include:
1. MovieMaker Magazine
A reviewer described the workshop as a “wake-up call,” praising its practical instruction and calling it ideal for filmmakers who are technically capable but need stronger creative grounding.

Led by Tom Antos — a filmmaker known for making Hollywood-level techniques accessible on any budget — the workshop achieved wide acclaim and reached creators across North America and Europe.

Today, as part of the historical record of indie film education, it stands as a reminder of the profound impact that accessible, creator-driven instruction had during a critical era of digital filmmaking growth.
